Something scary

Brinley is into PBS Kids online. She asks to play pretty much every day. She has figured how to navigate the site and can find games to play or little clips to watch. Very rarely do I need to help her. The site is nice because it tells her what to click on and she is familiar with most of the characters. The other day she was playing on the site and she said "Mom, I don't like this, it's scary". So I told her not to watch it if it was scary, and went over to see what on PBS would be scary. I found she was watching a clip from "Sid the Science Kid", which is a cute show about a pre-schooler who wants to learn all about science. Anyway, she was watching a clip about decay. It showed them squishing apples and various other fruit and it showed the process of decay. Well, despite it being "scary"(to her credit, the song is sung in a spooky way) she watched it over and over. She made me watch it over and over. When Marty got home he had to watch it several times as well. Throughout the day she taught me about decay: "Mom, when your fruit gets squished, that means it has decay", "Mom, when fruit has decay, it helps new trees grow", "Mom, remember when that blueberry was mushy, that's cuz it has decay."

I am excited because we presently have some strawberries that will go nicely with a little lesson about decay.

To enjoy the decay song, go to pbskids.org, click on Sid the Science Kid, at the top of his page click on the little blue tv with music notes in it, scroll down the side of the bigger yellow tv that pops up until you see Decay Song and click on it. (I tried to post a link, but it wouldn't work)

  1. My kids ask to play the computer all the time. It's the next best thing to Nintendo which I refuse to buy. However...Braeden googled "girl games" trying to find a site for Lex...You won't believe what came up!
